Improvements underway at Greendell Park Community Centre

Winnipeg, MB - St. Vital residents will be able to enjoy renovations at the Greendell Park Community Centre this summer, Sport, Heritage and Culture Minister Rochelle Squires and City Councillor Brian Mayes (St. Vital) announced this morning.

City of Winnipeg: Flood Bulletin #2

Winnipeg, MB - The Province of Manitoba today released an updated flood outlook and advised that there is a risk of moderate to major spring flooding. The outlook noted that with the benefit of floodway operations, levels on the Red River would be James Avenue 4.6m (15 feet) for favourable weather or 5.5m (18 feet) in unfavourable conditions.

As of 12:38 p.m., on Friday, March 24, the river level at James Avenue was 2.5 metres (8.22 feet).

Public invited to open house for the Empress Street and Overpass Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Study

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to view preliminary design plans for significant improvements to roads and infrastructure surrounding the CF Polo Park shopping centre at an open house on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

The $17.4 million project will provide a smoother ride and improvements to pedestrian and cycling facilities in the area. Details of the project include the rehabilitation of the Empress Street Overpass, roadway reconstruction, traffic flow improvements, riverbank stabilization and the addition of protected bike lanes.

Residents are encouraged to get a handle on leaks duringFix a Leak Week March 20 - 26, 2017

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is encouraging residents to check for plumbing leaks during Fix a Leak Week, March 20 - 26, 2017.

Plumbing leaks can waste water 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can cost customers hundreds of dollars each year. The majority of leaks occur in the bathroom and the most common culprits are toilets and dripping faucets.

In many cases, fixture replacement parts are inexpensive, pay for themselves quickly, and can be installed by do-it-yourselfers or plumbing professionals.

Upcoming temporary closure of Wellington Crescent between Grosvenor Avenue and Dorchester Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Wellington Crescent from Grosvenor Avenue to Dorchester Avenue will be closed to all vehicular traffic this Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for the assembly of a large crane used for building construction. Pedestrian access on Wellington Crescent will be maintained on the south sidewalk. Motorists should allow for additional travel time, and use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Public invited to provide input on Valour Community Centre - Orioles Site Frontage Redevelopment

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to attend an open house on the continuing renewal of the Valour Community Centre - Orioles Site.

The Valour Community Centre - Orioles Site is one of the oldest community club locations in Winnipeg, first opening its doors in the West End in 1948. The building hosts a variety of sport and fitness activities including the long-running Orioles Boxing Club. The facility also acts as an important hub for community programs supporting nearby students, families and seniors.
