Improvements to Route 86 and 33 transit service effective September 3

Winnipeg, MB – Beginning Sunday, September 3, 2017, Route 86 and 33 customers will see significant changes designed to improve reliability and extend service to new and expanding neighbourhoods in Bridgwater Centre, Bridgwater Lakes and northwest Winnipeg.

“We welcome feedback on Transit routes, and are always striving to improve bus service,” said Janice Lukes, City Councillor for St. Norbert. “As Winnipeg’s south end continues to grow, we are pleased to provide options that meet the needs of our residents.”

Operating hours for City of Winnipeg facilities and services during Labour Day long weekend

Winnipeg, MB – All civic offices are closed on Labour Day, Monday, September 4, 2017.

Remember to "Be Aware. Park with Care" during back to school

Winnipeg, MB – With the start of the school year, the Winnipeg Parking Authority (WPA) would like to remind motorists to “Be Aware. Park with Care” around schools.

“Illegally parked vehicles during school pick up and drop offs create serious safety hazards for children and cause traffic delays,” said Ryan Arabsky, manager of regulation and compliance with the WPA. “As kids start to head back to school, we encourage everyone to be aware and park with care for everyone’s safety with the added bonus of avoiding a ticket.”

Public invited to help design a Better Bridge for Arlington

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeggers who live, work or play near the aging Arlington Bridge are invited to share their thoughts about a new bridge throughout September, City officials and community partners announced today.

“The Arlington Bridge is a Winnipeg landmark, but it’s over 100 years old and needs to be replaced,” said Mike Pagtakhan, City Councillor for Point Douglas. “The City of Winnipeg is designing a new bridge, and input from local residents and businesses is a vital part of the process.”

Community recycling depot on Panet Road temporarily closed due to construction

Winnipeg, MB – The community recycling depot located on Panet Road at Mission Street will be temporarily closed for construction on the Panet 4R Winnipeg Depot.

The Panet Road community recycling depot will be closed from 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30 to Wednesday, September 20 at 6:00 p.m.

Community recycling depots are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and accept all the same recyclable materials that can be put in the curbside blue cart program.

Eastbound Inkster Boulevard from Wiginton Street to Airlies Street closed temporarily for catch basin repair

Winnipeg, MB – Eastbound Inkster Boulevard from Wiginton Street to Airlies Street, is fully closed for an emergency catch basin repair starting on Friday, August 25. A completion date for the roadway repair and reopening of Inkster Boulevard is not available at this time.

Eastbound Colony Street between Good Street and Cooper Avenue will be closed to traffic on Sunday, August 27

Winnipeg, MB – Eastbound Colony Street between Good Street and Cooper Avenue will be closed to traffic on Sunday, August 27 from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. for a BellMTS project.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, and motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.

Reminder: Leisure Guide registration for Fall activities starts August 29 and 30

Winnipeg, MB – Citizens are reminded that the registration process for Fall 2017 activities will have staggered start dates as follows:

Tuesday, August 29 at 8 a.m. – Registration begins for swimming lessons only.

Wednesday, August 30 at 8 a.m. – Registration for all other activities begins and swimming lesson registration continues.
