Louise Bridge to be temporarily closed for maintenance

Winnipeg, MB – Starting this morning the northbound and southbound directions of the Louise Bridge from Nairn Avenue to Sutherland Avenue, will be completely closed to traffic for bridge maintenance. It is expected the maintenance activities will take two days to complete at which time the bridge will be reopened to traffic.

Pedestrian access on the east sidewalk will be maintained.

Access to the Buchanan Marine Boat Launch will also be maintained.

2017 Winnipeg Wards Boundaries Commission to review Council Ward boundaries

Winnipeg, MB – The 2017 Winnipeg Wards Boundaries Commission (WBC) has been established to review the boundaries and names of the 15 Council Wards in the City of Winnipeg, and will hold public hearings to allow residents and organizations to make submissions and comments on required changes to the current ward boundaries.

City of Winnipeg launches emergency text message notification service

Winnipeg, MB – Today, the City of Winnipeg launched its new WpgEmerg Alert Service which provides the public with two additional ways to receive information from the City of Winnipeg during an emergency. Through the WpgEmerg Alert Service, the public can now sign-up to receive emergency information by text or email.

City launches adjustable bike lane curbs pilot

Winnipeg, MB – Starting today, the City of Winnipeg will begin installing adjustable bike lane curbs in two locations to test installation methods, monitor maintenance including snow clearing and spring clean-up, and comfort level of users. The adjustable bike lane curbs are being installed on Sherbrook Street south of Cumberland Avenue today and on a section of Bannatyne Avenue next to Old Market Square tomorrow.
