Winnipeg, MB – At 6:05 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at a seven-story apartment building on Mayfair Place. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire. A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on the scene, due to the potential for high life hazards when dealing with an occupied apartment block.
Winnipeg, MB – City of Winnipeg outdoor aquatics facilities are beginning to close for the season, but just before they close, the City is inviting the public to bring their licensed dogs for a swim at two wading pools.
Winnipeg, MB – The public is advised that northbound and southbound Memorial Boulevard from York Avenue to St. Mary Avenue will be temporarily closed this Sunday, August 26 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. for the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Convention Parade and Remembrance Ceremony.
Pedestrian access will be maintained, and motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.
Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 2:35 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at a residence in the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found and extinguished the fire on the back porch area of the home.
Six occupants from the home had self-evacuated prior to crews arrival. They were assessed by WFPS paramedics on scene and no injuries were reported.
Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at a residential duplex in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found the fire well involved with extensive smoke and flames visible on both stories of the structure. A defensive exterior attack to bring the fire under control was launched.
As a precaution, neighbouring homes were evacuated. No injuries have been reported at this time.
Winnipeg, MB – Northbound Fort Street from St. Mary Avenue to Portage Avenue will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. Saturday, August 18 until midnight on Sunday, August 19 for the installation of a tower crane.
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to use alternative routes during this time.

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at 702 Selkirk Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found the fire well involved and adopted a defensive attack.
All residents of the building self-evacuated prior to crew arrival and were assisted by City of Winnipeg Emergency Social Services. No injuries were reported. Currently, two cats remain missing.

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) training academy welcomed 11 newcomer youth this week as part of their Equity and Diversity Camp. The week-long camp is designed to provide newcomer youth with exposure to a variety of scenarios that firefighters, paramedics, and WFPS 911 communication operators encounter on a daily basis. Youth also participate in career training workshops such as interview preparation.
