Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at a residential duplex in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found the fire well involved with extensive smoke and flames visible on both stories of the structure. A defensive exterior attack to bring the fire under control was launched.
As a precaution, neighbouring homes were evacuated. No injuries have been reported at this time.
WFPS crews remain on scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time. A neighbouring home suffered minor damage to siding and soffits.
Traffic along Manitoba Avenue is expected to be impacted for the remainder of the day.
