Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update 2: Dawson Road Fire

Winnipeg, MB – As of 2:30 this afternoon, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews have wrapped up their work at the scene of the Dawson Road Fire.

Motorists can expect Dawson Road to reopen in time for the afternoon rush hour.

The cause of this fire remains under investigation. Due to the significant damage of the structure, investigators will rely on witness accounts in addition to the forensic information available once they are able to access the scene. This can take considerable time. As well, no damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Dawson Road Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 1:02 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services (WFPS) crews responded to a fire at an industrial business at 500 Dawson Road North. Crews arrived within minutes of the first 911 call to find a well-involved fire. A defensive strategy was declared immediately and no crews were able to enter the structure with hose lines due to the significant flames, heavy smoke and high risk of building collapse.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Pritchard Avenue Fire and Talbot Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:37 p.m. on November 4, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded a fire in a one and a half-storey structure in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue. Upon arrival, an offensive attack was launched and the fire was extinguished.

Initial reports indicated that occupants may be trapped in the building, but all occupants had self-evacuated prior to crews’ arrival. No injuries were reported. The structure suffered significant fire and water damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Nichol Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:20 p.m. on November 3, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a two-storey structure in the 0-100 block Nichol Avenue. Upon arrival, an offensive attack was launched and the fire was extinguished.

All occupants had self-evacuated prior to crews’ arrival. One occupant was assessed on scene by paramedics. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.

Curbside yard waste collection season ending

Winnipeg, MB – Curbside yard waste collection for 2018 is coming to an end.

  • Yard waste collection in “area A” will end the week of November 12-16, 2018
  • Yard waste collection in “area B” will end the week of November 19-23, 2018

Residents can find out if their yard waste collection is “area A” or “area B” by:

City Hall Christmas tree donated by Windsor Park resident

Winnipeg, MB – A 45-foot Colorado blue spruce donated by Windsor Park resident Dean Munoz-Perez has been selected as City Hall’s 2018 Christmas tree. The tree will arrive at City Hall on Sunday, November 4.

“As a new resident in Windsor Park, I have a beautiful tree that is too big for my yard,” said homeowner Dean Munoz-Perez. “I’m happy to donate this tree so all Winnipeggers, including myself, can enjoy it this holiday season!”

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:47 p.m. on November 1, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a three-storey structure in the 100 block of Maryland Street. Upon arrival, crews found a fire in the attic of the building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was extinguished.

All occupants had self-evacuated prior to crews’ arrival. Firefighters rescued several cats which were reunited with their owners. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service update: Regent Avenue and Lagimodiere Boulevard Motor Vehicle Collision

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:53 p.m. on October 30, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic (WFPS) crews responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a WFPS ambulance at the intersection of Regent Avenue and Lagimodiere Boulevard.

One patient was extricated from their vehicle and transported to hospital in stable condition. Two paramedics were also transported to hospital in stable condition. There was no patient in the ambulance at the time of the collision.
