Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: McGillivray Boulevard Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in the 2400-block of McGillivray Boulevard. Upon arrival, crews found two delivery vehicles engulfed in flames.

An offensive attack was launched and the fire was contained to the vehicles with only superficial fire and smoke damage to the exterior of the adjacent building. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:16 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a two-storey home in the 0-100 block of Prince Edward Street. Upon arrival, crews found the home engulfed in fire, with significant flames and smoke on all levels. A defensive attack was launched as it was unsafe for crews to enter the home.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Gunn Road Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 10:05 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services (WFPS) crews responded to a fire at a commercial business in the area of Saunders Street and Gunn Road in the R.M. of Springfield involving asphalt tanks. WFPS responded to assist at the request of the R.M. of Springfield Fire and Rescue Service.

REMINDER: Tomorrow is Election Day

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is reminding citizens that tomorrow is Election Day for the 2018 Municipal and School Boards Election. Eligible voters will have the opportunity to vote for Mayor, Councillors, School Trustees, and answer the question on the ballot: “Do you support the opening of Portage and Main to pedestrian crossings?”

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Kirlystone Way

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:47 a.m. this morning Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a two-storey home in the 0-100 block of Kirlystone Way. Upon arrival, crews found a well-involved fire in the attached garage of the residence, with flames extending to the roof of the home. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was extinguished.

All occupants had self-evacuated prior to crews’ arrival. Firefighters rescued two cats from the residence. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update 2: Gunn Road Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 10:05 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services crews responded to a fire at a commercial business in the area of Saunders Street and Gunn Road in the R.M. of Springfield involving asphalt tanks. We responded to assist at the request of the R.M. of Springfield Fire Department.

As of 4:30 p.m., the fire has been knocked down and WFPS and the Springfield Fire Department remain on scene to monitor and continue cooling the asphalt tanks. The 800 metre evacuation area is being lifted.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Gunn Road Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 10:05 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018, WFPS crews responded to a fire at a commercial business in the area of Saunders Street and Gunn Road in the R.M. of Springfield involving asphalt tanks. We responded to assist at the request of the R.M. of Springfield Fire Department.

Heavy smoke is being reported in the area. Individuals with breathing conditions are advised to stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed. Residents in the area are advised to shelter in place at this time.
