Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Bannerman Avenue Fire

Released: January 31, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:33 a.m. on January 31, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey residence in the 300 block of Bannerman Avenue. Once on scene crews launched an interior, offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 9:18 a.m.

No occupants were home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Traffic in the area will reopen once crews complete their work on scene. Drivers should exercise caution in the area as the water used to fight the fire covered the road and has now frozen. City of Winnipeg will be monitoring the area and applying sand and de-icing agents to improve traction on the roadway.
