Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Agnes Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:03 p.m. on June 19, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in the 600 block of Agnes Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews found a detached garage and carport fully engulfed. They attacked the fire immediately but it had already spread to the roofline of the adjacent house. Crews then launched an offensive attack in the interior of the house. The fire was declared under control at 1:39 p.m.

Winnipeggers invited to vote on decorative panels at Stadium Station

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Transit plans to install six large panels with graphics to decorate Stadium Station, located beside Investors Group Field at the University of Manitoba, as part of the Southwest Transitway project.

Winnipeggers are invited to vote for their favorite of four proposed themes: sports, entertainment, nature, and Winnipeg landmarks. The themes can be viewed at Stadium Station until mid-July or online.

City libraries kick-off TD Summer Reading Club

Winnipeg, MB Registration for the annual TD Summer Reading Club begins today at all Winnipeg Public Library branches. Children up to age 12 are invited to visit any library branch to register and pick up a free bilingual reading kit that includes activities and a calendar to track reading time.

Winnipeg's Indigenous Accord welcomes additional partners

Winnipeg, MB – Today, over 20 additional local organizations, businesses, groups, and individuals joined the City and the other 119 signatories in their commitment to the ongoing Journey of Reconciliation in Winnipeg by formally becoming partners of Winnipeg’s Indigenous Accord at the third annual signing ceremony, bringing the total number of Accord partners to over 140 and demonstrating a strong community commitment to Winnipeg’s Journey of Reconciliation.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Knowles Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:12 a.m. on June 15, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single- family bungalow in the 2500-block of Knowles Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered a well-involved fire which had burned through the roof of the home.

City Hall welcomes un-bee-lievable guests

Winnipeg, MB – Have you heard the latest buzz at City Hall? It might be coming from the second-floor roof of the Susan A. Thompson Building, where a hive of European honey bees has taken residence for the summer. Beeproject Apiaries, a local beekeeping business, is supplying and maintaining the controlled hive, which is capable of producing 100 pounds of honey a year.
