Released: June 19, 2019 at 4:39 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:03 p.m. on June 19, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in the 600 block of Agnes Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews found a detached garage and carport fully engulfed. They attacked the fire immediately but it had already spread to the roofline of the adjacent house. Crews then launched an offensive attack in the interior of the house. The fire was declared under control at 1:39 p.m.

All occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. Both neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. One firefighter was assessed and monitored by paramedics on scene for suspected heat exhaustion. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
