Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:25 p.m., on Thursday, January 9, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family home in the 300 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a well-involved fire with smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:14 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Extended Snow Route Parking Ban in effect starting tonight at midnight

Winnipeg, MB - In response to recent accumulations of snow, a major snow clearing operation will begin tonight at 7 p.m. on main routes, bus routes, and collector streets to improve roadway conditions. To facilitate snow clearing, an Extended Snow Route Parking Ban will be in effect starting tonight at midnight.

The Extended Snow Route Parking Ban extends the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban by two hours, prohibiting parking on snow routes between midnight and 7 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to vehicle fire on Burrows Avenue & provides update on Maryland Street fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:03 a.m., on January 9, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a vehicle fire in the 400 block of Burrows Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered two vehicles on fire between two homes.

Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 10:28 a.m. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:47 p.m., on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant four-storey apartment building in the 400 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived, they encountered heavy, black smoke and flames coming from the building. This building had sustained significant damage in two fires in January 2019. As such, crews were forced to exit the building due to the hazards inside.

Public invited to review Wolseley to Downtown Walk Bike Project recommended design

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting residents to review the recommended design for the Wolseley to Downtown Walk Bike Project.

The project will close a gap in the pedestrian and cycling network by connecting Downtown with West Broadway and Wolseley neighbourhoods, and also aims to increase safety and convenience throughout the area.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to overnight fire on Collegiate Avenue and garage fire on Ethelbert Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:42 a.m. on Tuesday, January7, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family, two-storey home in the 100 block of Collegiate Avenue.

When crews arrived, they encountered smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 1:19 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the home and no occupants were located. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Furby Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:18 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey multi-family building in the 400 block of Furby Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered light smoke coming from the building. Residents had safely extinguished the fire prior to crew arrival. The situation was declared under control at 6:30 p.m.
