Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on McDermot Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:25 p.m. on January 15, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey multi-family home in the 500 block of McDermot Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 8:31 p.m.

Upon searching the structure, crews located and brought one individual to safety through an upper floor window. All other occupants of the house had self-evacuated.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:31 a.m. on January 15, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, single-storey duplex in the 600 block of Alfred Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home and launched a defensive attack. Once fire conditions improved, crews were able to transition to an interior offensive attack to complete the extinguishment of the fire. It was declared under control at 4:15 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Roseberry Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:12 p.m. on January 13, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, one-and-a-half storey home under renovations in the 100 block of Roseberry Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home and launched a defensive attack. Once some of the flames were knocked down, crews transitioned to an interior offensive attack to complete the extinguishment of the fire. The fire was declared under control at 11:03 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Dubois Place

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:58 p.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single family home in the 0-100 block of Dubois Place. When crews arrived, they encountered smoke coming from the chimney. An offensive attack was launched and once the chimney was opened up, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. It was confined to the chimney area.

All occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. Damage estimates to the home are not available at this time.

Extended Snow Route Parking Ban lifted

Winnipeg, MB – The Extended Snow Route Parking Ban that was put into effect at 12 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2020 has now been lifted. The Extended Snow Route Parking Ban is an extension of the annual snow route parking ban, which is currently in effect daily from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. until March 1, 2020.

The City of Winnipeg wishes to thank everyone for their cooperation during this snow removal operation.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to garage fire on Furby Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:09 p.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a detached garage in the 600 block of Furby Street. When crews arrived, they encountered smoke coming from the garage.

Crews launched an offensive attack and it was very quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.

Southbound Princess Street completely closed between Pacific Avenue and Ross Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – Southbound Princess Street between Pacific Avenue and Ross Avenue is closed until further notice due to the unsafe condition of an area building. Crews will be assessing the building’s condition and reviewing options for remediation.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east sidewalk of Princess Street, and motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.
