Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:25 p.m., on Thursday, January 9, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family home in the 300 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a well-involved fire with smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:14 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Drivers should use caution in this area, as water used to fight the fire has frozen. The City of Winnipeg is monitoring conditions and applying sand and de-icing agents as required.
