Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Elgin Avenue and Young Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey home in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. All occupants had self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Crews searched the home and confirmed all occupants had evacuated. One patient was transported to hospital in stable condition.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Lumsden Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:50 p.m. on July 9, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in the three-storey townhouse complex in the 100 block of Lumsden Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke in the building. A fire was located in a laundry room and quickly brought under control. Crews then worked to ventilate the smoke from the rest of the building.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Alfred Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:39 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey home in the 800 block of Alfred Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered flames coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:35 p.m.

Eastbound and westbound Taylor Avenue to close overnight this week for sewer repair

Winnipeg, MB – An intermittent overnight full closure of Taylor Avenue from Pembina Highway to Stafford Street will begin Monday, July 6 at 8 p.m. These overnight road closures will occur every night this week until 6 a.m. Saturday, July 11 to accommodate sewer repairs.

Motorists must use alternate routes during this time and are encouraged to detour via Grant Avenue.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a house fire on Flora Avenue and two garage fires

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:39 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 400 block of Flora Avenue. Winnipeg Police Service AIR 1 first noticed the fire and notified WFPS.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a well-involved fire with heavy flames and smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:22 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to several water rescue and fire calls

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to several significant incidents during the evening of July 4, 2020. This includes four simultaneous water rescue calls, an outdoor fire and two house fires. WFPS also responded to a house fire on the morning of July 5, 2020 that required assisting occupants out of the building.

At 8:12 p.m. crews responded to a residence for reports of an individual in distress in a swimming pool. One individual was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Barber Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:40 a.m. on July 4, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey apartment complex in the 100 block of Barber Street.

When crews arrived on scene they encountered smoke coming from the building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was quickly knocked down. Damage was contained to the suite of the fire’s origin.

Occupants of the complex self-evacuated and no injuries were reported.
