Public advised of potential COVID-19 exposure on Winnipeg Transit

Winnipeg, MB – Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living has indicated a Winnipeg Transit passenger has tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual took the Route 412 on Monday, September 14 and Tuesday, September 15 from the Headmaster/Mildred stop to John Pritchard School from approximately 8:15 a.m. to 8:40 a.m., and the return route from approximately 3 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. Those who travelled on the route are asked to monitor for symptoms.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Sherbrook Street and Flora Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:21 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey home in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 5:43 p.m.

Crews searched the home to confirm there were no occupants inside. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.

Jubilee Overpass to temporarily close

Winnipeg, MB – The Jubilee Overpass at Pembina Highway will be closed on Monday, September 21 from 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22 for street lighting repairs.

Motorists must use alternate routes to reach their destinations during these timeframes.

Temporary closure of Arlington Bridge

Winnipeg, MB – The Arlington Bridge between Dufferin Avenue and Logan Avenue will be temporarily closed for two weeks for maintenance, beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, September 21, until 6 a.m. on Monday, October 5.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time, and use alternate routes such as the McPhillips Street Underpass or Slaw Rebchuk Bridge to reach their destinations.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on College Avenue and Albert Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:52 p.m. on September 15, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half-storey, four-plex building in the 300 block of College Avenue.

When WFPS crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke inside the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was contained to a single suite and was declared under control at 10:19 p.m.

All occupants of the building self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.
