Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Middle Gate

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:19 p.m. on September 28, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half-storey single-family home on Middle Gate.

When WFPS crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the attic of the house and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 7:13 p.m.

Occupants of the residence safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Langside Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:21 a.m. on September 27, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 500 block of Langside Street.

When WFPS crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke inside the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 6:51 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no human occupants were located. Firefighters did locate and rescue one dog from the house. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to MVC on Logan Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:43 p.m. on September 25, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a school bus into a hydro pole near the intersection of Logan Avenue and Stanley Street.

The bus driver and 31 school-aged children on the bus at the time of the collision all safely disembarked prior to the arrival of emergency crews. They were brought to the nearby Salvation Army facility where WFPS paramedics assessed all involved. No injuries were reported and no transports to hospital were required.

Section of Notre Dame Avenue to temporarily close

Winnipeg, MB – Notre Dame Avenue between Erin Street and Wall Street will be temporarily closed to traffic starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 25 for a railway crossing repair. Notre Dame Avenue will reopen at 11 p.m. on Sunday, September 27. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to reach their destinations during these timeframes.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to apartment fire on Qu'Appelle Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:11 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a four-storey apartment building in the 300 block of Qu’Appelle Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 2:29 p.m.

Public advised of potential COVID-19 exposure on Winnipeg Transit

Winnipeg, MB – Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living has indicated a bus passenger who has since tested positive for COVID-19 rode Transit on two occasions.

On Saturday, September 12, the individual rode route 47, boarding the bus at approximately 11:32 a.m. at Mayfair Avenue and Queen Elizabeth Way and exiting at approximately 12:10 p.m. at Kildare Avenue West and Kootenay Crescent.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a house fire on Donan Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:20 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey, single-family home in the 100 block of Donan Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:53 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Paramedics transported one patient to hospital in stable condition. Crews located two dogs and reunited them with their owner.

Public advised of potential COVID-19 exposure on Winnipeg Transit

Winnipeg, MB – Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living has indicated a bus passenger who has since tested positive for COVID-19 rode Transit on Tuesday, September 15.

The passenger rode route 14 between 11:10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., boarding the bus at Ellice Avenue and Spence Street and exiting on St. Mary Avenue.

Winnipeg Transit has identified and notified the Operator who was driving the route and appropriate follow-up measures are being taken.
