Released: September 18, 2020 at 11:07 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – On Monday, September 21, 2020, Winnipeg Public Library will expand services at all of its branches to include collection browsing, limited computer use, self-pick-up of holds, and printing and photocopying. Customers will also be able to book tutorial rooms and access the ideaMILL at the Millennium Library.

At this time, meeting and program rooms are not available for rent. Magazines are available for check out only. Newspapers are not available for browsing but remain available using our digital library. There is 24/7 access to return materials, and all returned items are quarantined for at least four days before being checked in.

Some seating and play areas have been removed to encourage physical distancing. Visitors are encouraged to plan for shorter visits and limits are in place for study and computer time.

Occupancy limits are in place at all branches, and visitors may be directed to a queue until space is available. Millennium Library security screening is still suspended in this phase.

All visitors should use the self-assessment symptom checklist before entering the buildings. Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter the branches. Visitors are also reminded to follow posted signage, maintain social distancing, and to wear a face mask. A limited number of single-use face masks are available for customers who do not have one.

Library staff have received safety training and will be following handwashing protocols and disinfecting frequently used equipment and surfaces regularly. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance of each library. Plexiglass shields have been installed at service desks.
