Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Boyd Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:42 p.m. on November 10, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey home in the 900 block of Boyd Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the house and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 10 p.m.

All five occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Playgrounds, skate parks, and other outdoor recreation amenities to close in response to COVID-19

Winnipeg, MB – As part of our commitment to ensuring the health and safety of our residents and employees, and in consideration of Winnipeg being elevated to Critical (Red) in the Province of Manitoba’s Pandemic Response System, the City of Winnipeg is closing all City-owned and operated playgrounds, skate parks, and recreational sports fields effective immediately.

While not currently in operation, winter-based outdoor recreation, including City-owned and operated toboggan slides and outdoor rinks are also included in this closure.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:35 p.m. on November 7, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey building in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.

When crews arrived, they encountered heavy black smoke coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 7:03 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the building and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Arnold Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:04 p.m. on November 4, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey home in the 0-100 block of Arnold Avenue.

When crews arrived, they encountered heavy flames and smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 1:30 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Crews searched the home and confirmed there were no occupants inside. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Beauty Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:21 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey home in the 1000 block of Beauty Avenue.

When crews arrived, they encountered heavy flames and smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 11:22 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Moncton Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:33 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment in the 1000 block of Moncton Avenue.

When crews arrived, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the unit where the fire started and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 7:04 a.m.

City of Winnipeg’s response to Critical (Red) status

Winnipeg, MB – As part of our commitment to ensuring the health and safety of our residents and employees, and in consideration of Winnipeg being elevated to Critical (Red) in the Province of Manitoba’s Pandemic Response System, the City of Winnipeg is suspending all of its recreation and leisure programs and services, including Leisure Guide programming, and closing all City-owned and operated recreation facilities, gyms, indoor pools, arenas, and libraries effective Saturday, October 31 until further notice.
