Winnipeg, MB – At 6:33 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment in the 1000 block of Moncton Avenue.
When crews arrived, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the unit where the fire started and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 7:04 a.m.
Crews searched the building and located one patient who was transported to hospital in critical condition. A cat and a dog were located deceased on scene and City of Winnipeg Animal Services was called to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
