Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Lockwood Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:20 a.m. on November 22, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 300 block of Lockwood Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the house and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 5:40 a.m.

City welcomes new partners to the Indigenous Accord

Lord Roberts Community Traffic Study invites residents to learn more and provide feedback on traffic solutions

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting residents to provide feedback on proposed solutions to address traffic concerns in the Lord Roberts neighbourhood, as part of the Lord Roberts Community Traffic Study.

The purpose of the study is to identify community traffic concerns, validate those concerns with real data, and develop and implement solutions to improve transportation in the area.

Northbound Arlington Street between Ellice Avenue and Sargent Avenue temporarily closed

Winnipeg, MB – Northbound Arlington Street between Ellice Avenue and Sargent Avenue will be temporarily closed for a watermain repair starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24.

Motorists must use alternate routes while this road closure is in place.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to three overnight fires

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:21 a.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one-storey house in the 200 block of Union Avenue West.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy flames and smoke coming from the house. Crews launched a defensive attack using an aerial ladder, declaring the fire under control at 1:08 a.m. No injuries were reported and no damage estimates are available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

First responders urge caution around thin ice conditions on waterways

Winnipeg, MB – As temperatures drop and ice begins to form, Winnipeg first responders remind residents to use extreme caution around all Winnipeg waterways, including drainage ditches, culverts, streams, creeks, retention ponds, and rivers.

Ice surfaces are thin and fragile and falling into ice-cold water can be deadly. Parents and teachers are urged to speak to children and students about the dangers of waterways. Dog owners should keep dogs on leashes around the ice to prevent them from chasing geese onto thin ice.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Carpathia Road and Victor Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:53 p.m. on November 11, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey townhouse in the 400 block of Carpathia Road.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 12:10 a.m.
