Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to multiple suspicious fires

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to several fires this morning.

Sherbrook Street fires

At 5:48 a.m. on April 27, 2021, WFPS responded to a garage fire in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street. A number of garbage bin fires in the vicinity were also occurring.

Crews launched an offensive attack on the structure fire and it was declared under control at 6:18 a.m. The bin fires were also quickly extinguished.

No injuries were reported. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on College Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:57 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 300 block of College Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene crews encountered heavy smoke coming from the house and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 11:39 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to two fires on College Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two fires on College Avenue this morning.

At 3:51 a.m. on April 26, 2021, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey house in the 300 block of College Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene crews encountered light smoke coming from the house and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 4:24 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Inkster Boulevard

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:53 p.m. on April 25, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 0-100 block of Inkster Boulevard.

Upon arrival on scene crews encountered smoke and flames coming from the house and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 6:20 p.m.

All occupants of the home safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Notre Dame Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:13 p.m. on April 25, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a commercial structure in the 400 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene crews encountered smoke in the building and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 1:48 p.m.

All occupants of the building safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Public advised of potential COVID-19 exposure at Animal Services Agency

Winnipeg, MB – The public is advised of a potential COVID-19 exposure at Animal Services Agency (1057 Logan Ave.) on April 20, 2021, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

An Animal Services employee working during that time has since tested positive for COVID-19. The employee, who had contact with the public, was following COVID-19 protocols, including wearing a mask and remaining behind a plexiglass barrier.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to wildland fire in Charleswood

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:06 p.m. on April 24, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a significant grass and brush fire in an area around Community Row and Wilkes Avenue in Charleswood.

Crews used specialized wildland-urban interface equipment, including the WFPS Bison, to attack the fire and protect the surrounding areas and properties. The WFPS drone, with a thermal imaging camera, was also used to detect hot spots.

The fire was under control at 11:35 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Rougeau Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:55 p.m. on April 24, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire at a bungalow in the 300 block of Rougeau Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 6:33 p.m.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Devonshire Drive West

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:04 p.m. on April 24, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey condominium complex in the 1000 block of Devonshire Drive West.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke in the building and launched an offensive attack. The fire was quickly knocked down, with the building’s sprinkler system helping to control the fire before crews’ arrival.
