Homicide Update – Arrest: C24-25715

As previously released:

On February 3, 2024, the deceased, 43-year-old Charles Danny CHARTRAND, was located at a residence in the 200 block of Fountain Street with critical injuries from being stabbed. He later succumbed to his injuries. His death was considered a homicide.

The Homicide Unit requested the public’s assistance to help identify two persons of interest.

Update:

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance, as the individuals of interest were identified.

A suspect was subsequently identified and the Crown authorized a charge of Second Degree Murder. The investigation determined the deceased and the accused were known to each other when they became involved in an altercation in the apartment block in which they both resided.

On September 10, 21-year-old Rory Alexander MOUSSEAU of Winnipeg was arrested on the strength of a warrant while in custody on an unrelated matter. He remains in custody.
