Homicide – Arrest: C22-201550

On September 3, 2022, at 1:05 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the 200 block of Mapleglen Drive for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers located a severely injured male and began to administer emergency medical care – including the use of tourniquets. The male was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased and identified as Dakota Beardy, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg.

A male suspect was located in the area and placed under arrest.

Homicide – Arrest: C22-199762

As previously released:

On September 1, 2022, at 7:57 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residential building in the 600 block of Home Street for a report of a severely injured male that had been found inside a suite.

Upon arrival, officers located the male deceased. He has since been identified as Son Minh Nguyen, a 66-year-old male of Winnipeg, and his death is believed to be a homicide.

Update:

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation.

Homicide – Investigation: C22-199762

On September 1, 2022, at 7:57 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residential building in the 600 block of Home Street for a report of a severely injured male that had been found inside a suite.

Publish Sexual Images – Arrest: C16-140151

In April 2022, the Winnipeg Police Services’ Domestic Violence Unit (DVU) received a report about intimate images posted online without consent in 2015.

A subsequent investigation by DVU revealed a number of nude images of the reporting victim and other unknown women were posted online by the suspect.

Investigators believe the intimate images were posted without any of the women’s consent.

On May 14, 2022, DVU charged David Alexander ZEGARAC, 43, of Headingley, with the following offence:

Boating Collision – Safety Awareness: C22-196014

On August 27, 2022, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service’s River Patrol Section attended the Tache Public Dock, where Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service members were already on scene, tending to an injured male.

A 41-year-old male was transported to hospital in stable condition suffering a head injury. Members recovered a heavily damaged human-powered pleasure craft (kayak) and personal property a distance away on the water.

Aggravated Assault – Arrest: C22-190966

On August 22, 2022, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a robbery in progress at a residence in the first block of Woodcrest Drive.

Homicide – Arrest: C22-190799

Update:

On August 27, 2022, a 15-year-old youth male wanted in connection with two Winnipeg homicides (Danielle Ballantyne and Marvin Felix) and an aggravated assault in the 800 block of Main Street was arrested in Long Plain First Nation. He was turned over to the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit and charged with the following offences:

- Second Degree Murder x 2
- Aggravated Assault

He was detained in custody.

Homicide – Arrest: C22-186182

Update:

The Winnipeg Police Service previously released information about a homicide on August 17, 2022 that occurred in the 100 block of Higgins Avenue. The deceased was identified as Brian Edward ANDERSON, a 40-year-old male of Winnipeg.
