Homicide – Arrest: C22-199762

As previously released:

On September 1, 2022, at 7:57 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residential building in the 600 block of Home Street for a report of a severely injured male that had been found inside a suite.

Upon arrival, officers located the male deceased. He has since been identified as Son Minh Nguyen, a 66-year-old male of Winnipeg, and his death is believed to be a homicide.

Update:

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation.

On September 2, 2022, a male suspect was placed under arrest. It is believed that the suspect and victim were together when an argument ensued, which escalated to a serious physical assault.

Jay Peter Penner, a 34-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Manslaughter

He was detained.
