Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to three fires and a gas leak

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to three structure fires and a gas leak on Monday, September 27, 2021.

Osborne Street Fire

At 6:37 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey commercial building in the 100 block of Osborne Street.

Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was very quickly brought under control, aided by the building’s sprinkler system.

City promoting food source sustainability with compost giveaway

Winnipeg, MB – To promote food source sustainability, the City of Winnipeg is giving away free compost from October 1 – 3. Winnipeg residents will have the opportunity to take home up to 100 litres of compost per vehicle that they can use for their lawns, gardens, and plants, while quantities last.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on College Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey house in the 300 block of College Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found the house fully engulfed in smoke and flames with fire extending to a neighbouring home. A defensive attack was launched on the house fully-engulfed in flames. Crews were able to enter the neighbouring house to extinguish hot spots. The fire was declared under control at 7:53 a.m.

Winnipeg Transit Plus trip priority system to be replaced with more equitable bookings

New first-come, first-served booking system to launch October 6

Winnipeg, MB – As part of its commitment to improving accessibility, Winnipeg Transit Plus will soon move to a first-come, first-served system of booking trips, eliminating an outdated system for booking trips that can limit access to service for its customers.

Starting October 6, all Winnipeg Transit Plus trip requests will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis using updated trip booking software.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Young Street and Dufferin Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a house fire this morning and a townhouse fire yesterday evening.

Young Street Fire

At 8:38 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a bungalow in the 500 block of Young Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 8:56 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on River Avenue and Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires between Sunday evening and early Monday morning.

River Avenue Fire

At 6:47 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey, apartment building in the 200 block of River Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 7:01 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Munn Road

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:06 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a report of a fire inside a single-family bungalow in the 0-100 block of Munn Road.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. They launched an offensive attack, bringing the fire under control at 10:26 p.m.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported.
