Arlington Bridge to be completely closed for routine maintenance from August 27 until September 4

Winnipeg, MB - The Arlington Bridge will be completely closed to traffic from Logan Avenue to Dufferin Avenue, starting at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27 and reopening at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4. The bridge closure is for routine bridge maintenance including expansion joint repairs, inspection and cleaning.

Pedestrian access will be permitted while this work is underway.

Motorists should use alternate routes such as the McPhillips Street Underpass or Slaw Rebchuk Bridge .

Animal Services Agency offers pet licence amnesty in August and September

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg Animal Services Agency will be holding a pet licence amnesty campaign from August 22, 2016 to September 30, 2016. Amnesty allows non-licenced pet owners the opportunity to purchase a licence while avoiding any retroactive licence fees and additional fines. We would like to encourage dog and cat owners who have never licenced their pets to take this opportunity to purchase a licence, available in a number of convenient ways.

Reminder: City services during potential Canada Post work stoppage

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg would like to advise citizens and businesses of changes to City services in the event of a Canada Post work stoppage.

Citizens are advised to call 311 for information on how City services that normally use Canada Post will operate in the event of a work stoppage.

Adult nuisance mosquito fogging program to begin Sunday night

Winnipeg, MB - To date, the Insect Control Branch (ICB) has used a combination of larviciding and residual treatments to control mosquito populations. These measures alone are no longer sufficient to control the current adult nuisance mosquito population so an adult nuisance mosquito fogging program will be implemented. Fogging will begin on Sunday, August 21, 2016, between 9:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. (weather permitting).

Southbound Princess Street temporarily closed at Higgins Avenue this weekend for asphalt paving

Winnipeg, MB - Princess Street at Higgins Avenue will be temporarily closed to southbound vehicular traffic starting at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 until Sunday, August 21at 6:00 p.m. for asphalt paving of the roadway. Eastbound and westbound Higgins Avenue will be reduced to one through lane of traffic in each direction while the roadwork is underway.

Pedestrian sidewalk access will be maintained until the project is completed.

Complete closure of Selkirk Avenue from McGregor Street to Arlington Street to begin Saturday, August 20

Winnipeg, MB - Stage one of the Selkirk Avenue street renewal project is near completion with Selkirk Avenue from Salter Street to McGregor Street to be reopened to vehicular traffic on Saturday, August 20. That same day, stage two will begin with Selkirk Avenue between McGregor Street and Arlington Street to be completely closed to vehicular traffic. Stage two of the Selkirk Avenue street renewal project is expected to be completed by mid-November.

Pedestrian sidewalk access will be maintained until the project is completed.
