City of Winnipeg fall Leisure Guide now available

Winnipeg, MB – The fall 2016 Leisure Guide is now available at all civic indoor pools, libraries and leisure centres, and will be available this Saturday at a number of retail locations. Winnipeg Free Press subscribers will receive a copy in today’s edition of the paper.

The Leisure Guide can also be viewed online by visiting Winnipeg.ca.

Activity registration will have staggered start dates as follows:

Tuesday, August 30 at 8:00 a.m. – Registration begins for swimming lessons only.

King Street will be completely closed this Thursday between Notre Dame Avenue and McDermot Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - King Street between Notre Dame Avenue and McDermot Avenue will be completely closed on Thursday, August 18 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. for water repairs.

Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time and to use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Edmonton Street temporarily closed between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - This Wednesday, August 17, Edmonton Street will be temporarily closed between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., to accommodate the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities (SMD) Winnipeg Drop Zone Event.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes during this time

King Street temporarily closed between Notre Dame Avenue and McDermot Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - King Street between Notre Dame Avenue and McDermot Avenue is temporarily closed due to flooding. At this time, a re-opening date and time are not yet known.

Graham Avenue temporarily closed August 16 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - The public is advised that Graham Avenue from Carlton Street to Edmonton Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicles except Transit buses, on Tuesday, August 16 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., for a street repair.

Pedestrian access will be maintained while construction is underway.

Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time and to use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Ferry Road will remain temporarily closed this week between Portage Avenue and Bruce Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Ferry Road between Portage Avenue and Bruce Avenue will remain temporarily closed to vehicular traffic this week for asphalt paving of the roadway. While repairs are underway both the northbound and southbound lanes will be closed. Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes when traveling in this vicinity.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east and west sidewalks.

Ferry Road to be temporarily closed between Portage Avenue and Bruce Avenue, August 13-14

Winnipeg, MB - Ferry Road between Portage Avenue and Bruce Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic starting Saturday, August 13 at 6:00 a.m. until Sunday evening, August 14 for asphalt paving of the roadway. While repairs are underway both the northbound and southbound lanes will be closed.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east and west sidewalks.

Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes when traveling in this vicinity.

Portage and Main stairway will remain closed for repairs until October

Winnipeg, MB - The public is advised that the stairway that leads from the exterior street level courtyard in front of 201 Portage Avenue into the concourse will remain closed until mid-October to accommodate asbestos abatement, in addition to water infiltration repairs.

Access to the concourse may be gained through entry into 201 Portage Avenue and taking the escalators in the front lobby down to the concourse area.

Alternatively, Portage Avenue may be crossed at the pedestrian crosswalk 200 feet west of 201 Portage Avenue, at Notre Dame Avenue.

Shaftesbury Boulevard temporarily closed between Cuthbertson Avenue and Grant Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Starting Tuesday, August 9 at 6:00 a.m. Shaftesbury Boulevard will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic between Cuthbertson Avenue and Grant Avenue. This temporary closure is to accommodate a roadway paving project and will remain in place until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes during this time.
