New three-season washroom opens at St. Vital Park

Winnipeg, MB - Visitors to St. Vital Park can now enjoy a new three-season washroom amenity, City Councillor Brian Mayes (St. Vital) announced this morning.

“St. Vital Park is a neighbourhood gem that invites residents to enjoy nature, get active, and visit with family and friends,” said Councillor Mayes. “The new three-season washroom facilities feature a creative and aesthetically-pleasing design that will also provide a much-needed service to park users.”

Reminder: Public invited to open house for the Waverley Underpass Project

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to attend a public open house about the Waverley Underpass project.

A detailed design for the Waverley Underpass project is currently underway. An open house event will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016. The open house is an opportunity for the public to view the detailed design for the underpass, learn about pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, intersection and road improvements, as well as construction timelines and detours.

Transcona-area park officially opened and dedicated to Inderjit Claire

Winnipeg, MB - At an event this morning, The Honourable MaryAnn Mihychuk, Member of Parliament for Kildonan-St. Paul, Andrew Micklefield, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Rossmere and Russ Wyatt, City Councillor for the Transcona Ward officially opened Inderjit Claire Park on Concordia Avenue East and dedicated the park to Mr. Claire.

Two upcoming road closures on Ferry Road for motorists to be aware of from October 2-12

Winnipeg, MB - The following two temporary lane closures will be in place on Ferry Road from October 2 until October 12:

Starting at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 2, Ferry Road between Ness Avenue and Silver Avenue will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic for roadway maintenance. While repairs are underway both the northbound and southbound lanes will be closed, and pedestrian access will be maintained. It is anticipated that this section of Ferry Road will be reopened by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2.

Mayor and Finance Chair to meet with Bond Rating Agencies

Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Brian Bowman and Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Finance, Councillor Marty Morantz, are scheduled to meet with international bond rating agencies Standard and Poor's and Moody's next week in New York to discuss the City of Winnipeg's finances and the City's projections for growth.

Four lanes of the Plessis Underpass opening tomorrow

Winnipeg, MB - Four lanes at the Plessis Underpass will be open to traffic at approximately 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Traffic at this location was restricted by trains, resulting in traffic congestion. The underpass separates trains from motor vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, making the area safer and more efficient for all modes of transportation.

The City thanks citizens for their patience while work on this construction project was completed.

Northbound direction of the Arlington Bridge to be temporarily closed

Winnipeg, MB - The northbound direction of the Arlington Bridge will be temporarily closed from Logan Avenue to Dufferin Avenue, starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30 to facilitate asphalt paving of the Arlington/Dufferin intersection. The southbound direction of traffic on the bridge will be maintained while construction is underway. The northbound direction will be reopened by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3.

Pedestrian access will be permitted while this work is underway.
