Ness Avenue Bridge over Sturgeon Creek now open

Winnipeg, MB - Ness Avenue Bridge over Sturgeon Creek is now open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Work is still underway for the under-bridge paths and embankment stabilization. Completion of this work is expected by the end of October 2016.

Winnipeg Transit buses are now operating along their regularly scheduled routes.

The City of Winnipeg thanks residents for their patience during the closure.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service fire response update: Dugald Road

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is advising motorists and residents that due to an ongoing fire response at a commercial business in the 3000 block of Dugald Road, traffic on Dugald has temporarily been reduced to one lane between Plessis Road and the east Perimeter.

Traffic is being controlled on scene by Winnipeg Police Service cadets. Vehicles can still travel both east and west on Dugald but motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible and to allow for extra travel time if they must travel on Dugald.

Give your fall leaf and yard waste a second chance

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is encouraging Winnipeggers to give their fall leaf and yard waste a second chance. Help prepare for winter by raking and collecting leaves from your yard, adjacent boulevards and roadways. Then take advantage of the City’s curbside leaf and yard waste collection program so that your leaf and yard waste can be turned into beneficial compost.

Due to the large volumes of yard waste placed out for collection this fall, weekend pre-collection of yard waste will begin this weekend.

Public invited to open house for the Winnipeg Zoning By-law Review

Winnipeg, MB - Citizens are invited to attend a public open house on proposed amendments to the Winnipeg Zoning By-law No. 200/2006.

As part of the OurWinnipeg Implementation Plan, the City of Winnipeg has committed to reviewing its two zoning by-laws - the Winnipeg Zoning By-law and the Downtown Zoning By-law - on a regular basis to address any errors and omissions, and to improve clarity and alignment with the policies of OurWinnipeg and the Complete Communities Direction Strategy.

Public invited to open house about the Saskatchewan Avenue Road Reconstruction and Sturgeon Creek Culvert Replacement Project

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to attend a public open house about the Saskatchewan Avenue Road Reconstruction and Sturgeon Creek Culvert Replacement Project.

The primary objective of this project is to develop a preferred preliminary design which improves the flow of Sturgeon Creek, prevents Saskatchewan Avenue from flooding and improves its road condition. At the same time, the City’s multi-use path network will be expanded with enhancements to pedestrian and cycling facilities along Sturgeon Creek and Saskatchewan Avenue.

Upcoming temporary closure of Archibald Street from Messier Street to Kavanagh Street

Winnipeg, MB - Archibald Street from Messier Street to Kavanagh Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic starting this Friday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10 for sewer maintenance.

Pedestrian access will be maintained while repairs are underway.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time, and use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.
