Public invited to provide input on the future of the Winnipeg Canoe Club Golf Course

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are being asked to help reimagine the future of the Winnipeg Canoe Club Golf Course.

In April 2019, the current lease of the course to a private operator will expire. The City of Winnipeg is seeking feedback from the public to find out how the space is currently used, and whether or not the public supports another golf course lease, or the creation of a mixed-use recreational space that includes additional services. All future changes would be subject to City Council approval and funding.

18 community garden plots available for rent at Margaret Grant Pool

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg has opened 32 community garden plots at Margaret Grant Pool (685 Dalhousie Drive) and 18 plots are still available for rent.

The new garden plots use a fresh, four-way-mix amended soil and measure 40’ x 8’. Anyone willing to garden can rent a plot on a first come, first served basis. Rentals are $46.20 and include one till per season.

Sod-turning celebrates start of construction on the new Transcona Library

Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Brian Bowman and City Councillor Russ Wyatt officially broke ground on the new Transcona Library this morning.

“It’s great to break ground today on the new Transcona library,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “Libraries are an important community space, not only for learning but also as a place where the community comes together. The much needed, new Transcona library will serve this community for many years to come.”

Libraries kick-off TD Summer Reading Club

Winnipeg, MB - Registration for the annual TD Summer Reading Club has begun at all Winnipeg Public Library branches. Children up to age 12 are invited to drop by any branch of the library to register and to pick up their free bilingual reading kit that includes activities and a log to track time spent reading.

City breaks ground on Panet Road 4R Winnipeg Depot

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg today broke ground on the Panet Road 4R Winnipeg Depot (429 Panet Road). The Panet Road location will be the City’s third 4R Winnipeg Depot location and will serve the east side of Winnipeg. The location is expected to be operational by the end of 2017. Once open, residents can drop off items that can be recycled, reused, composted, or resold.
