Winnipeggers invited to 11th Annual Monarch Butterfly Festival on July 16 at the Living Prairie Museum

Winnipeg, MB - Save the date and join us for the Living Prairie Museum’s 11th Annual Monarch Butterfly Festival on Sunday, July 16 from noon until 4 p.m., rain or shine.

This free, all ages event has many activities to enjoy, including presentations by local scientists, storytelling, displays of live monarchs, crafts, guided hikes, a native prairie plant sale with Prairie Flora, and more!

Receive one free milkweed per family while quantities last, and be sure to bring a t-shirt to silk screen as a festival memento.

Living Prairie Museum presents Theme Thursdays in July and August

Winnipeg, MB - Join the Living Prairie Museum for free, family education programs every Thursday from July 13 to August 24. Programs include a presentation on a prairie topic followed by an activity. Theme Days are suited to ages 4 - 12. Parental supervision is required.

Register for one of two sessions: 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Please register a week in advance by calling 204-832-0167. Friends of the Living Prairie Museum members are eligible to register at any time.

Winnipeg Transit options for 2017 Bombers regular season home opener

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg Transit has some new options to help you get to Winnipeg Blue Bombers games this year, beginning with the first home game on July 7, 2017.

New this year: Stadium Station
The 2017 Bombers season will see Transit service operate to and from Stadium Station, the new special event terminal at Investors Group Field for all Blue Bomber home games and special events. All Park & Ride service, as well as extra transit service on routes 75, 78, and 160, will use the new station.

Stadium Station Officially Opens

Winnipeg, MB - The opening of Stadium Station, the first piece of the Southwest Rapid Transitway and Pembina Highway underpass project, was announced today by Mayor Brian Bowman along with Indigenous and Municipal Relations Minister Eileen Clarke and Terry Duguid, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg South.

The project has been made possible by funding through PPP Canada, Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg. Stage 2, being built as a public-private partnership, extends Stage 1 of the Southwest Transitway to the University of Manitoba.

Transcona Aquatic Park now open for summer fun!

Winnipeg, MB - The Transcona Aquatic Park is officially open for summer fun for Transcona residents, Mayor Brian Bowman, Mike Pagtakhan, Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Protection, Community Services, and Parks, Russ Wyatt, City Councillor for Transcona announced today.

Street Closures in effect for Canada Day celebrations

Winnipeg, MB - The following lane closures will be in effect this weekend for Canada Day celebrations.

Osborne Village Street Festival
Starting this Friday at 6:00 p.m. until midnight on Saturday, July 1, Osborne Street from River Avenue to McMillan Avenue at Confusion Corner will be closed to traffic for the Osborne Village Street Festival. Stradbrook Avenue, Wardlaw Avenue and Gertrude Avenue will also be closed between Nassau Street and Scott Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Northbound Empress Street will be temporarily closed between Sargent Avenue and Wellington Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Starting this Thursday, June 29 at 9:00 a.m., northbound Empress Street between Sargent Avenue and Wellington Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic for a sewer pipe repair. The northbound lane is tentatively scheduled to reopen on Thursday, July 6. While this work is underway the southbound lane on Empress Street will remain open. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east sidewalk.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and to plan for additional travel time to reach their destinations.
