Winnipeg, MB – Today, Public Sector Digest (PSD) in partnership with Canada's Open Data Exchange (ODX) announced that the City of Winnipeg has climbed to 3rd spot in the listing of Canada's Most Open Cities for 2017. Winnipeg was ranked 10th in 2016.

Community celebrates enhancements to Kirkbridge Park

Winnipeg, MB – At an event this afternoon, Councillor Janice Lukes and members of the community celebrated pathway improvements and other upgrades to Kirkbridge Park.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service launches two new water rescue units

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews today launched two new water rescue units as part of a training exercise at the St. Vital Boat Launch. The new units will maintain the WFPS’s capacity for water, ice, and swift water rescues by replacing existing units that have reached the end of their usable lifespan.

Reminder: recycling, garbage and yard waste collection schedules are changing for some residents next week

Winnipeg, MB – Residents are reminded that recycling, garbage and yard waste collection schedules are changing for some next week. Changes will take effect starting Monday, October 2, 2017.

All residents should have received a notice in the mail to advise them of their collection day. Residents can also visit City of Winnipeg – Collection Day or download the free My Waste app to find out if their collection day is changing and to set collection reminders.

Winnipeg Goldeyes Recognized With Honourary Street Naming

Winnipeg, MB – Today, Mayor Bowman announced the honourary renaming of Portage Avenue East from Main Street to Westbrook Street as "Winnipeg Goldeyes Way" in recognition of the Winnipeg Goldeyes' second consecutive American Association Championship win.

“Winning a single championship series like this is incredible,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “Winning back-to-back championships, however, is certainly an achievement worthy of special recognition from our city.”

Statement from Mayor Bowman on Canadian Aerospace Dispute

Winnipeg, MB – Mayor Bowman issued the following statement today regarding the Boeing/Bombardier trade dispute:

“Yesterday, Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard stated that “Not a bolt, not a part, of course not a plane of Boeing” should be entering Canada until this conflict is resolved.
His comments do not appear to acknowledge the reality that Quebec is not the only province affected by this dispute.
