Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to two fires on Maryland Street this morning.

At 11:19 a.m. a report was received from Winnipeg Police Service members regarding a fire in a garage in the 400 block of Maryland Street. WFPS crews arrived on scene and quickly knocked down the fire, declaring it under control at 11:35 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:15 a.m. on March 26, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports that a vehicle hit a commercial building in the 1500 block of Pembina Highway, subsequently setting the building on fire. Once on scene, crews were met with heavy smoke and flames. An exterior, defensive attack was launched. Once the bulk of the flames were knocked down, they were able to transition to an interior, offensive attack to gain control of the fire.

Winnipeg, MB - Renovations to the Seven Oaks Pool (444 Adsum Dr.) are nearing completion and registration for spring and summer swimming lessons will be accepted beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26.

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to two unrelated fires in the 1000 block of Powers Street this morning.

At 9:16 a.m., a report was received regarding a fire in a suite in a side-by-side residential building. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire which had originated in the clothes dryer. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 9:37 a.m.

Occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to WFPS crews’ arrival. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg, MB - At approximately 4:01 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a one and a half storey home in the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue West.

Once on scene, crews found a fire in the basement. An interior offensive attack was launched and the fire was quickly knocked down.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg, MB - At 11:21 p.m. on March 22, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a multi-family home in the 400 block of Manitoba Avenue. Once on scene, crews launched an interior offensive attack, very quickly bringing the fire under control. The suite where the fire occurred suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage.

Winnipeg, MB - At a graduation ceremony this morning, the City of Winnipeg and partners celebrated the success of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service’s 13 new Advanced Care Paramedics (ACP).

The graduates completed a challenging three-year program, offered by the WFPS consisting of classroom learning, as well as hospital and field training to achieve the highest level of paramedic education available in Manitoba.
