Battery Street Fire
Winnipeg, MB – At 10:45 p.m. on March 25, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant single-storey home in the 200 block of Battery Street. Once on scene, crews found a well-involved fire, with heavy smoke and flames. An exterior, defensive attack was launched, with crews directing water streams through doors and windows. They also opened up exterior walls and the roof to gain access the flames. After approximately an hour and a half, once the bulk of the flames were knocked down, crews entered the structure and fully extinguished the fire.

Once inside, crews also completed their searches of the structure, determining that there were no occupants in the home. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
