Winnipeg, MB – Northbound and southbound Ravenhurst Street from Pandora Avenue E. to Dugald Road will be closed starting Monday, April 15 until Friday, July 26 for water and sewer work.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and to plan for additional travel time to reach their destinations.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Dovercourt Drive Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:50 a.m. on April 10, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a 911 call reporting the smell of smoke and fire alarm activation in a townhome condominium complex in the 700 block of Dovercourt Drive. Once on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from one unit and launched an offensive attack.

City of Winnipeg: Flood Bulletin #2

Winnipeg, MB – Due to favourable weather conditions and the anticipated use of the floodway, the City of Winnipeg has revised its flood planning level and is reducing the number of properties that may require a dike to protect from river flooding.

To determine at-risk properties, the City is now planning to use a peak of 19.6 feet at the James Avenue gauge. The peak is expected to arrive in Winnipeg over the Easter long weekend. The City had originally been planning for a peak of 20.5 feet.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Boyd Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:53 a.m. on April 9, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a single family bungalow in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue. Once on scene, crews encountered heavy flames and smoke and launched an offensive attack.

Crews located two individuals in the residence. One was declared deceased on scene and the second was transported to hospital in critical condition. Two deceased cats were also located by crews.

At this time, it is not known if the home was equipped with working smoke alarms.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: De La Morenie Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:50 a.m. on April 9, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, multi-family home in the 400 block of De La Morenie Street. Once on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 3:39 a.m. The structure suffered fire, smoke, and water damage.

Application Period For Mayor's Youth Advisory Council Now Open

Winnipeg, MB – The application period for the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council is now open and youth between the ages of 15 and 21 are encouraged to apply, Mayor Brian Bowman announced today.

“A youth advisory council will better allow the voice of our youth to be heard at City Hall,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “There are so many young people in our community working hard to make Winnipeg a place we are all proud to call home and this council will provide a platform to communicate, consult, and solicit feedback on issues important to the young leaders of today.”

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: College Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:00 p.m. on April 7, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey home in the 500 block of College Avenue. Once on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames and determined the fire had also extended to a neighbouring residential side-by-side home. Crews extinguished the fire using a defensive attack. Both homes suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Toronto Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:30 a.m. on April 6, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a single family bungalow in the 600 block of Toronto Street. Once on scene, crews found heavy smoke and launched an interior offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 11 a.m. The home suffered significant fire, smoke, and water damage.

Occupants of the home self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
