Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Alverstone Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:07 p.m. on April 16, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in two and a half storey, single-family home in the 800 block of Alverstone Street. Once on scene crews encountered heavy flames and smoke and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 4:41 p.m. The home suffered fire, smoke and water damage.

All occupants of the home safely evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Day Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:16 p.m. on April 16, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in an industrial building in the 2500 block of Day Street. Once on scene crews launched an offensive attack to extinguish a fire in the basement. The fire was declared under control at 3:08 p.m. Damage was contained to a small area in the building.

All staff in the building safely evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

City of Winnipeg recognizes 911 call takers and dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is celebrating the important work of our Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) 911 call takers and dispatchers for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, April 14-20, 2019. National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is an opportunity to recognize all emergency telecommunications personnel for their front line service to our community.

Public invited to provide input on their experiences with traffic in the Lord Roberts neighbourhood

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting members of the public to provide input on their experiences with traffic in the Lord Roberts neighbourhood. The feedback received by the project team will help determine what the community values most to identify possible solutions to improve transportation in the area.

This phase of public engagement will build on the work of the project’s public advisory and technical advisory committees.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Redwood Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:30 p.m. on April 14, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one and a half storey house in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue. This was the same address where crews battled a fire yesterday. Once on scene today, crews found heavy smoke coming from the home. An offensive attack was launched with crews also working to protect a neighbouring home. The fire was declared under control at 6:21 p.m. The home, which was already significantly damaged, suffered added damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: St. Claire Boulevard Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:38 a.m. on April 14, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a vehicle fire which was threatening a single-family bungalow in the 100 block of St. Claire Boulevard. Once on scene, crews found heavy flames which had extended to the home. An offensive attack was initially launched; however, deteriorating conditions required crews exit the home and adopt a defensive attack. Once conditions improved, they were able to move back to an offensive attack, to finish putting out hot spots.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Redwood Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:23 p.m. on April 13, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one and a half storey house in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue. Once on scene, crews found heavy smoke coming from the home. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 4:36 p.m. The structure suffered fire, smoke and water damage.

A search of the structure was completed and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Furby Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:00 a.m. on April 13, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey, single-family home in the 400 block of Furby Street. Once on scene, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. An offensive attack was initially launched; however, due to deteriorating conditions crews were forced to move to a defensive strategy while also working to protect neighbouring homes. Later, once conditions had improved, they were able to move back inside to finish extinguishing the fire.
