Winnipeg, MB – At 2:50 a.m. on April 9, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, multi-family home in the 400 block of De La Morenie Street. Once on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 3:39 a.m. The structure suffered fire, smoke, and water damage.
All occupants of the home self-evacuated as a result of hearing the smoke alarm. On-scene paramedics treated two individuals for smoke inhalation, transporting one to hospital for further assessment. Crews rescued one cat, but another was reported missing.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
