Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Hartford Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 6:05 p.m. on March 16, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a single family bungalow in the 200 block of Hartford Avenue. Once on scene, crews found heavy smoke and launched an interior offensive attack. They quickly knocked down the fire, declaring it under control at 6:33 p.m. The home suffered significant smoke and water damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Alfred Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 3:27 a.m. on March 16, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews on the way from another call came across and reported a working fire in a vacant home in the 800 block of Alfred Avenue. Additional crews were dispatched and an interior, offensive attack was launched.

Crews were hampered by a large amount of garbage and debris present in the home. The fire was declared under control at 4:28 a.m. The home suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage.

There were no occupants in the home and no injuries were reported.

City of Winnipeg seeks public input for two transit projects

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is kicking off two major transit projects today and inviting Winnipeggers to share their input over the next month.

Winnipeg Transit Master Plan

The City wants to hear from Winnipeggers about the future of our transit system to help shape the Winnipeg Transit Master Plan. The Winnipeg Transit Master Plan is a 25-year plan that will cover all aspects of the transit system – Transit, Rapid Transit, and Transit Plus (formerly Handi-Transit) service and infrastructure.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update Jefferson Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 10:35 a.m. on March 14, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of smoke in a home in the 800 block of Jefferson Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from a light fixture. Opening up the ceiling into the attic, crews were able to locate and extinguish the fire. It was declared under control at 11:15 a.m.

Occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to WFPS crews’ arrival. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Nassau Street South Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 2:25 p.m. on March 12, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of smoke in a home in the 600 block of Nassau Street South. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire which had originated in the clothes dryer. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was very quickly extinguished.

Occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to WFPS crews’ arrival. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: McPhillips Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 2:54 a.m. on March 12, 2019 Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 700 block of McPhillips Street. Initial reports indicated two occupants may be trapped inside the structure, however upon arrival on scene crews established that all occupants had self-evacuated. Crews launched an interior, offensive attack and quickly located and extinguished the fire.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Wildwood Park Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 12:02 p.m. on March 10, 2019 Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a single family home in Wildwood Park. Upon arrival, crews found a fire in the attic of the home. An interior, offensive attack was launched and the fire declared under control at 12:28 p.m. The home suffered fire, smoke, and water damage.

The lone occupant of the home had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Change your clock, change your smoke alarm batteries

Winnipeg, MB - On Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 2 a.m., the clocks will "spring ahead" one hour marking the start of daylight savings time. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is encouraging residents to take a moment to replace the batteries and test their smoke alarms when adjusting their clocks for this weekend's time change.
