Winnipeg Public Library invites applications for the position of Writer-in-Residence for 2019-2020

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Public Library is seeking applications for the 2019-2020 edition of its Writer-in-Residence Program.

During their term, the Writer-in-Residence offers one-on-one mentorship and public workshops to emerging Manitoba writers of all genres. The successful candidate works with writers by email, phone, and in-person consultations. In addition, the Writer-in-Residence hosts public workshops to share their expertise on topics such as writing for specific genres or getting published. The residency also includes time to work on a personal writing project.

The Writer-in-Residence term runs October 1, 2019 until April 30, 2020. Applications are due by Monday, June 10, 2019.

The program has helped guide hundreds of new and emerging writers since it first began in 1985. The 2019-2020 term will be the program’s 30th Writer-in-Residence.

The Writer-in-Residence position is funded by the City of Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Public Library Board, the Friends of the Winnipeg Public Library, and Manitoba Sport, Culture and Heritage.
