Eastbound Higgins Avenue between Princess Street and King Street temporarily closed

Winnipeg, MB – Higgins Avenue will be closed to eastbound traffic, from Princess Street to King Street, starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2 until August 16 for street construction and maintenance.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on the north sidewalk.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and to plan for additional travel time to reach their destinations.

Arlington Bridge temporarily closed on July 1 and 2

Winnipeg, MB – The Arlington Bridge will be temporarily closed from Logan Avenue to Dufferin Avenue, from 11 p.m. on Monday, July 1 to noon on Tuesday, July 2 to facilitate film production.

Motorists should use alternate routes such as the McPhillips Street Underpass or Slaw Rebchuck Bridge.

City of Winnipeg invites residents to come in and cool off during forecasted high heat

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg invites residents to come in and cool off in civic facilities during regular operating hours, as high temperatures are forecasted over the next few days.

City facilities that are normally open on weekdays and weekends are available to act as 'cooling areas' where the public may come in for relief from the heat and have access to drinking water.

City pools and spray pads are also great ways to cool down.

Get ready to set sail on the new play structure in Harbourview Park

Winnipeg, MB - Members of the community welcomed a new play structure in Harbourview Park at a grand opening event today.

The new play structure, which replaces the former play structure that was destroyed by arson in 2017, was designed to include nautical and natural water's edge features to compliment the park's water-side character. Favourite play features such as a ship and swings have been reimagined and designed with a stylized dock, to encourage active and inventive style of play for children of all ages and abilities.

Thursday Theme Days at the Living Prairie Museum in July and August

Winnipeg, MB - Residents are invited to attend free, family programming at the Living Prairie Museum, 2795 Ness Ave., on Thursdays this summer. Theme Days take place on Thursdays, July 11 to August 22, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Activities include a presentation on a prairie topic followed by an activity. The one-hour programs are best suited for children ages 5 - 11.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Pritchard Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 9:42 p.m. on June 26, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in a one and a half storey home on Pritchard Avenue. Upon arrival on scene crews encountered smoke coming from a window. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 10:03 p.m.

All occupants of the home self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One individual was assessed on scene by paramedics but did not require transport to hospital. No injuries were reported.

Edmonton Street temporary closures this summer for the Downtown Winnipeg Night Market

Winnipeg, MB – Edmonton Street will be temporarily closed between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue for the Downtown Winnipeg Night Market on the following days this summer:

  • Friday, June 28 – from noon until midnight
  • Friday, July 26 – from noon until midnight
  • Friday, August 30 – from noon until midnight

Pedestrian access will be maintained, and motorists should use alternate routes and allow additional travel time to get to their destinations.

City of Winnipeg outdoor pools, wading pools set to open

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is inviting residents to enjoy aquatic fun this week as all heated and unheated outdoor pools will open on Friday, June 28, weather permitting.

St. Vital
Westdale

Both the Kildonan Park Outdoor Pool and the Transcona Aquatic Park opened for the season on June 14.

Admission rates apply to each person entering the pool area.
