Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Vince Leah Drive Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:46 p.m. on September 5, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 100 block of Vince Leah Drive. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered flames in the kitchen and launched an offensive attack, very quickly bringing the fire under control.

All occupants of the home had safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Gas Leak

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:54 p.m. on September 4, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a gas leak near the intersection of Strathcona Street and St. Matthews Avenue. Once on scene it was determined that a construction contractor ruptured a three quarter inch gas line.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Renfrew Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:56 p.m. on September 3, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 600 block of Renfrew Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered flames in the kitchen and launched an offensive attack, very quickly bringing the fire under control.

All occupants of the home had safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

City Releases 2019 Second Quarter Financial Status Report and Forecast

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg's second quarter Financial Status Report for 2019 is forecasting a projected deficit in the tax-supported operating budget (General Revenue Fund) of $7.7 million, as at June 30, 2019. The City of Winnipeg's second quarterly financial update will be presented at the meeting of the Standing Policy Committee on Finance on September 9, 2019.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Selkirk Avenue Fires

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:39 p.m. on September 2, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant commercial building in the 400 block of Selkirk Avenue. The same building had previously been damaged by fire in July 2018. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered a well-involved fire with heavy flames and thick smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was initially launched but deteriorating conditions, with heavy fire in the attic and roof, forced crews to exit the building and transition to a defensive strategy.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Adsum Drive Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:50 a.m. on September 2, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a monitored fire alarm in a ten-storey apartment complex in the 200 block of Adsum Drive. Upon arrival on scene, crews were directed to a fire in a third-storey suite. An offensive attack was initiated and the fire was very quickly knocked down. Damage was contained to the suite where the fire originated.
