Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Langside Street, Ashern Road and William Newton Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:03 a.m. on November 3, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) received a report of a fire in 2.5-storey, single-family home in the 400 block of Langside Street.

When crews arrived, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the windows of the house. Crews launched an offensive attack while protecting neighbouring homes from the spread of flames. The fire was declared under control at 9:19 a.m. The home sustained extensive fire and water damage. Two neighbouring homes sustained minor damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to barn fire on Cadboro Road

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:59 a.m. on November 2, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) received a report of a barn on fire in a field near Bison Drive and Cadboro Road.

When crews arrived, they encountered a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the barn. Crews used their on-board water to attack the fire, quickly declaring the fire under control at 2:21 a.m. The barn is expected to be a total loss.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg, MB – As colder weather approaches, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) reminds residents to protect themselves from the dangers of carbon monoxide.

Residents are encouraged to install a carbon monoxide alarm on every floor of their home. If you suspect carbon monoxide in your home, exit immediately and call 911.

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to five structure fires last night.

Inkster Boulevard Fire
At 9:46 p.m. on October 31, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey, single-family home in the 900 block of Inkster Boulevard.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, quickly declaring the fire under control at 10:10 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:51 p.m. on October 31, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey, multiple-family residence in the 300 block of Maryland Street.

Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke coming from a window. Crews launched an offensive attack and declared the fire under control at 6:29 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Change your clock, change your smoke alarm batteries

Winnipeg, MB – On Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 2 a.m., the clocks will "fall back" one hour marking the end of daylight saving time. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) reminds residents to replace your smoke alarm’s batteries and test your smoke alarms when you adjust your clocks this weekend.

According to recent statistics, people are four times more likely to die in a fire if they don’t have working smoke alarms. The only way to ensure an alarm is working it to test it.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Marshall Crescent

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:48 p.m. on October 29, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, single-level house in the 0-100 block of Marshall Crescent.

When crews arrived, they encountered a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Crews employed a defensive attack using a ladder truck until they could safely fight the fire from inside the house. The fire was declared under control at 11:03 p.m. The house sustained extensive damage.
