Winnipeg, MB – At 12:13 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey home in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue.
When crews arrived, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the home. Crews utilized a defensive attack until conditions improved enough to allow for offensive operations inside the home. The fire was declared under control at 3:29 a.m. The home sustained significant smoke, water, and fire damage.
All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
Drivers in the area should exercise caution as the water used to fight the fire covered the road and has now frozen. City of Winnipeg will be monitoring the area and applying sand and de-icing agents as required.
