Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on College Avenue

Released: December 16, 2019 at 9:03 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:11 p.m. on December 16, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a four-storey apartment complex in the 200 block of College Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found heavy smoke coming from one of the suites and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 5:39 p.m.

Crews initiated a partial evacuation of the building. No injuries were reported.

Damage estimates are not available at this time but it is believed most of the damage was contained to the suite where the fire originated. Most occupants will be able to return to their suites once crews complete ventilation of the building. The cause of the fire will be under investigation.
