Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on McDermot Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:25 p.m. on January 15, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey multi-family home in the 500 block of McDermot Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 8:31 p.m.

Upon searching the structure, crews located and brought one individual to safety through an upper floor window. All other occupants of the house had self-evacuated.

Paramedics assessed a number of individuals on scene, transporting two to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. While damage estimates are not available at this time, the house suffered extensive fire, smoke, and water damage.
