Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Alexander Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:13 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half-storey duplex in the 600-block of Alexander Avenue. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 1:45 p.m. Crews then worked to ventilate smoke from the structure.

All occupants of the duplex safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Myrtle Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:14 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire at a warehouse in the first block of Myrtle Street. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy flames and smoke. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 1:03 a.m.

There were no occupants in the warehouse at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to shed fire at St. Boniface Hospital

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a shed behind the St. Boniface Hospital. A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on scene, in case of fire extension to the hospital building or in the event evacuations were required.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service reminds residents to help prevent arson

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) reminds residents to take steps to prevent fires in their yards and properties.

Each spring, the WFPS sees an increase in the number of fires, particularly those which are determined to be incendiary, or purposely set. Earlier this week, the WFPS responded to a number of outdoor fires that were deemed suspicious. In April and May 2019, there were 99 incendiary and suspicious fires.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Marjorie Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:57 a.m. on Tuesday May 12, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey, single-family home in the 300 block of Marjorie Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:26 a.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Two patients were transported to hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Lipton Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:26 p.m. on May 11, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey residence in the 100 block of Lipton Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control 8:51 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Flora Avenue and Alfred Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:13 p.m., on Monday, May 11, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 400 block of Flora Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 7:49 p.m.

Crews searched the house and no occupants were located. No injuries were reported.

At 8:28 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, multi-family home in the 400 block of Alfred Avenue.
