Winnipeg, MB – At 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a shed behind the St. Boniface Hospital. A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on scene, in case of fire extension to the hospital building or in the event evacuations were required.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy flames and black smoke coming from the shed. The fire was declared under control at 7:02 p.m. Light smoke levels were detected inside an administrative area of the hospital. Crews worked to ventilate the smoke and ensure no fire had extended to the building.

No evacuations were required, no hospital patients were impacted, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire will be under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
