Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Baltimore Road

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:26 p.m. on May 30, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a detached garage in the rear of the 300 block of Baltimore Road.

When crews arrived, they encountered the garage engulfed in flames, with fire extending to two neighbouring garages. An attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 9:50 p.m.

There were no occupants in any of the garages at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Sloane Crescent

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:03 p.m. on May 29, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in an attached garage of a single-family bungalow in the first block of Sloane Crescent.

When crews arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the garage and house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 10:39 p.m. All occupants of the home safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:36 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey, multiple family home in the 300 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the building. Three people had escaped to the roof of the home prior to crew arrival. Rescue crews used a ladder to rescue these occupants and a dog from the roof. Crews launched an offensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 12:56 a.m.

Spring cleanup complete

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg's spring cleanup of streets, sidewalks, boulevards, and parks is now complete. The City wishes to thank residents for their cooperation while cleanup operations were underway. Crews will begin the annual grass mowing program today.

Residents who believe their boulevard has remaining excessive sand can report the location to 311 until June 15. Details are available online on what constitutes excessive sand.

City promoting food source sustainability with compost giveaway

Winnipeg, MB – To promote food source sustainability, the City of Winnipeg is giving away free compost from June 1-7. Winnipeg residents will have the opportunity to take home up to 100 litres of compost per vehicle that they can use for their lawns, gardens, and plants, while quantities last.

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:27 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in two-storey, multi-family home in the 600 block of Agnes Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:45 a.m.
