Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Autumnwood Drive

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:02 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a four-storey, multi-family residence in the 1000 block of Autumnwood Drive.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 5:47 p.m.

Crews assisted one person from the building. One person was transported to hospital in unstable condition, and another was assessed on scene and did not require transport to hospital.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, mixed-use building in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.

When crew arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 2:09 a.m.

Crews searched the building and no occupants were located. One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was treated on scene.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Victor Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in the 700 block of Victor Street. When crews arrived on scene they encountered smoke and flames coming from the two-and-a-half storey house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 12:41 a.m.

All occupants of the house self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One patient was transported to hospital in stable condition.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Responds to house fire on Kay Crescent

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in single-family bungalow in the 1-100 block of Kay Crescent. When crews arrived on scene they encountered heavy smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched, but due to deteriorating conditions, crews were forced to exit the home and transition to a defensive attack. Once conditions improved, crews were once again able to enter to fight the fire from the interior. The fire was declared under control at 12:07 p.m.

City of Winnipeg spray pads to begin opening June 3

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is opening 18 of its 21 stand-alone spray pads beginning Wednesday, June 3, in accordance with the Province of Manitoba’s Restoring Safe Services plan.

The following City spray pads will open beginning on June 3:

Northbound Watt Street to temporarily close between Harbison Avenue West and Munroe Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – From Wednesday, June 3 at 6 a.m. until Friday, July 31 at 6 p.m., northbound Watt Street between Harbison Avenue West and Munroe Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic for water main renewal work. One lane of traffic will remain open in the southbound direction.

Motorists must use alternate routes during this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Responds to fire on Main Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:26 p.m. on June 1, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in the rear of a commercial building in the 900 block of Main Street. When crews arrived on scene they encountered heavy black smoke coming from an attached garage. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 6:04 p.m. Crews then worked to ventilate smoke from the commercial building.

A search of the structure was completed and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to wildland fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire near the area of Fermor Avenue and Plessis Road. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered a fire involving railway debris and adjacent grass, extending several hundred metres. Using specialized wildland-urban interface equipment, including the new WFPS Bisons, crews were able to attack the fire, while protecting nearby businesses and structures.
