Released: June 2, 2020 at 2:42 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of a fire in single-family bungalow in the 1-100 block of Kay Crescent. When crews arrived on scene they encountered heavy smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched, but due to deteriorating conditions, crews were forced to exit the home and transition to a defensive attack. Once conditions improved, crews were once again able to enter to fight the fire from the interior. The fire was declared under control at 12:07 p.m.

All occupants of the home safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are currently available but the home did suffer significant smoke, fire and water damage.
